Kelly Ann Hu was born in 13 th February 1968 in Honolulu, Hawaii.Her Parents Herbert Hu, a salesman and exotic bird feeder and Juanita, an engineer drafter.Her parents were divorced when she small child. She attended Maʻemaʻe Elementary School and Kamehameha Schools in Honolulu, Hawaii. She graduated from Pepperdine University in Malibu.
Kelly Hu was the first Asian American female to win the title of Miss Teen USA in 1985.She is also the first Asian American actress to get on the cover of Maxim magazine in the US.Kelly Hu has a black belt in Karate. Kelly Hu won the Miss Hawaii Teen USA 1985 title and competed in the Miss Teen USA 1985 pageant, becoming the third Miss Teen USA titleholder. Hu moved to Los Angeles and began her acting career in 1987 with a guest starring role as Mike Seaver's Hawaiian love interest on the sitcom Growing Pains.
