Cosmetics giants Este Lauder and Maybelline are adding Asian faces to their brands in order to appeal to the fastest-growing market in the world, reports the fashion blog Fashionologie.
Liu Wen, 22, is the new face of Este Lauder and the company's first Asian model.
"China is our fastest-growing market," Este Lauder's global brand president, Jane Hertzmark Hudis, told W magazine. "What better way to honor that than to hire a native of the country?"
The 5'10 Wen was also the first Asian face to walk the runway for lingerie giant Victoria's Secret in 2009. She is already a star in her own country, gracing many pages of Vogue China. She appears in September's U.S. edition of Vogue.
Shu Pei Qin joins "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" star Zhang Ziyi as Maybelline's newest Asian face.
The lithe 20-year-old from Shanghai has graced countless magazine covers in her native China and struck a pose for Miu Miu, Alexander McQueen and Zac Posen, among many others in 2009, according to NYmag.com.
